IAPMO Working on Sustainable Plumbing Codes
CHICAGO—The International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO) recently convened the inaugural meeting of its Green Technical Committee. This formally launched IAPMO’s efforts to make the Uniform Family of Codes more inclusive of sustainable practices and technologies and to develop the first "green supplement" for plumbing and mechanical codes. The Green Technical Committee seeks to develop and maintain a supplemental document establishing requirements for sustainable plumbing and mechanical systems. The supplement also will serve as a repository for provisions that can ultimately be integrated into the Uniform Codes and augment codes developed by other organizations.
