ASHRAE NewsPerformance Is the Buzz for Meeting The 2008 ASHRAE Annual Meeting will be held on June 21–25 in Salt Lake City. William A. Harrison will be installed as 2008–09 president. Harrison will present his inaugural address, Maintain to Sustain—Delivering ASHRAE’s Sustainability Promise, at the president’s luncheon on Monday, June 23. Ira Magaziner, chairman of the Clinton Climate Initiative (CCI), will be technical plenary speaker. Also, ASHRAE will launch its new certification program, High-Performance Building Design Professional. The Meeting theme is "Building Performance."

New ASHRAE Web Page Offers Listing of Standard 90.1 Training Resources ASHRAE has created a Web page detailing the Society's training offerings for ANSI/ASHRAE/IESNA Standard 90.1, Energy Standard for Buildings Except Low-Rise Residential Buildings. The page lists and describes ASHRAE Learning Institute full-day professional development seminars and short courses. It also describes available online courses.

Reminder To Vote on Board, Questions Ballots for nominees for officer and director positions for 2008–2009 were mailed on May 2 to all members in good standing. Also, members will vote on questions to clarify a Society policy on IAQ. The questions can be found at www.ashrae.org/iaqquestions. Ballots must be received at ASHRAE Headquarters by June 1, or members can cast their vote onsite at the 2008 Annual Meeting in Salt Lake City on June 22–24 during registration hours.

Peterson to Speak Before U.S. Congress on Sustainable Building ASHRAE President Kent Peterson, P.E., will speak today at a hearing, Building Green, Saving Green: Constructing Sustainable and Energy-Efficient Buildings, before the Select Committee on Energy Independence and Global Warming of the U.S. House of Representatives. Peterson will talk about ASHRAE’s role in writing standards for adoption into building codes and its work in developing guidance that goes beyond minimum requirements in building codes.
