Peterson Calls for Greater Efficiency Today, Blue Skies Tomorrow
LONG BEACH, Calif.—2007–08 ASHRAE President Kent W. Peterson, P.E., delivered his inaugural address at the 2007 Annual Meeting. In it, he asked the audience to recall the dreams that led them to become engineers. He called on them to use their dreams for a better future, coupled with their technical expertise, to address the crisis of high energy consumption worldwide. "As I see it, the bottom line is we need to be part of the energy solution," said Peterson. "I believe we have a responsibility to use our leadership and apply our knowledge and experience to provide effective, practical, and innovative solutions for a sustainable built environment."

2007–08 Technology Council Lays Out Plans in Members First!
The August issue of Technology Council's Members First! eNewsletter is the first for the 2007–08 roster of Technology Council. In the eNewsletter, Tech Council announces its efforts in developing building performance metrics for sustainability, including updates to ASHRAE standards and publications. Members First! also covers news relating to Tech Council's committees. Emphasis is given to the the importance of refrigerating, and the Refrigeration Committee, to the Society and the industry.
