GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.—With 15 past presidents in attendance, the Western Michigan Chapter celebrated the 75th anniversary of their charter. Sixty guests gathered at The Pinnacle Center in Hudsonville, Mich. on January 15 for an evening of dinner, prizes and reminiscing. Highlights from the evening included a social reception, hors d’oeuvres and a gourmet dinner, gifts presented to each president, and closed with prizes being given away with a card match game. A first for the chapter, the event was simulcast over the Internet. “Our 75th anniversary celebration was a great success based on the many comments I have received from members,” said current chapter president Chris Bonzheim. 1990–91 president Bob Langerak was one of the guests who spoke highly of the event. “I was honored to attend and enjoyed the kind words spoken.” Past presidents completed questionnaires about their terms as president. Ken Gunther, president 1968–69, recalled how astronaut Buzz Aldrin made a presentation at their CRC meeting. 1984–85 president Cassandra Daller was the first female member and president of the chapter. | |
