Honors & Awards Committee Members

The mission of ASHRAE is to advance the arts and sciences of heating, ventilating, air conditioning and refrigerating to serve humanity and promote a sustainable world.ASHRAE is an international organization of 55,000 persons and each of us helps advance that mission. The ASHRAE Honors and Awards Program recognizes members who have made outstanding contributions through their service. The Society Honors and Awards Committee encourages members to search their chapters, regions and committees for candidates for the following awards.

TheLincoln Bouillion Award recognizes a member who performs the most outstanding work in increasing membership of the society. One recipient is recommended by the membership promotion committee each Society year.

The William J. Collins, Jr. Research Promotion Award recognizes the chapter research promotion chairman who excels in raising funds for ASHRAE research.One recipient is recommended by the research promotion committee each Society year.

The John F. James International Award recognizes a member who has given freely of his time and talent to enhance the society’s international activities.One recipient is recommended by members council committee each Society year.

The Standards Achievement Award recognizes excellence in volunteer service for developing ASHRAE standards/guidelines.One recipient is recommended by the standards committee each Society year.

The Student Activities Achievement Award recognizes a chapter student activities chair for service related to the goals and growth of student activities at all levels.One award is recommended by the student activities committee each Society year.

The Lou Flagg Historical Award recognizes a chapter gold ribbon award winner for compiling information on outstanding historical projects or persons related to HVAC&R. One recipient is recommended by the historical committee each Society year.

The Environmental Health Award recognizes excellence in volunteer service focused on environmental health issues. One recipient is recommended by the environmental health committee each Society year.

The Regional Award of Merit and the Chapter Service Award recognize activities and contributions at the regional and chapter level. Nomination of a candidate must be made by the delegate from the candidate’s chapter and be proposed at a CRC. An updated ASHRAE biographical record and point tally form (available at www.ashrae.org/honors) are required for nomination. Ten points are required for the regional award of merit. Twelve points are required for the chapter service award. There is no limit on the number of awards given each Society year. Awards are presented at a CRC or chapter meeting.
