ASHRAE Seeks New Faces of Engineering Nominations

ASHRAE Insights

The ASHRAE New Faces of Engineering recognition program strives to promote the accomplishments of young engineers by highlighting their engineering contributions and the resulting impact on society.

Nominations are now being sought for engineers who have recently graduated from school and made an impact in their work environment or who have worked on a unique project that has had (or will have) a broad impact on the public or industry.

The New Faces of Engineering recognition program, a part of National Engineers Week, was launched in 2003 by ASHRAE when the Society chaired the week.

The top ASHRAE New Face will be included in a full-page ad in USA Today with the New Faces from the other sponsoring organizations of National Engineers Week. Each photo will be captioned with the engineer’s name, name of the engineering society providing the nominee, employer and a brief statement of that individual’s accomplishments as they relate to the public welfare.

Engineers 30 years of age or younger as of Dec. 1, 2007, are the focus of the recognition program.
Nominees must have a degree in engineering from a recognized U.S. college or university, or from an equivalent international educational institution. Degrees in engineering technology, science, computer science, and similar disciplines do not qualify; a degree in computer engineering is acceptable.

Complete nominations must be submitted to ASHRAE by Friday, Nov. 9.

A photo must be included with each nomination.

The nominations should try to tie at least one achievement to something the non-engineering community can appreciate.

The ASHRAE nomination form for New Faces candidates can be found on ASHRAE.org/newfaces2008.
