ASHRAE’s Technology Council plays a vital role in fulfilling ASHRAE’s mission of advancing the arts and sciences of HVAC&R. These technical activities include a wide range of efforts in standards development, research, environmental health and refrigeration, plus all the work of the technical committees.

While some might see Technology Council’s activities as somewhat removed from their day-to-day jobs, their products impact practice and thereby serve our members.
In 2005, Technology Council began publishing a newsletter entitled Members First! in order to communicate its good work to ASHRAE members. Each issue includes a short paragraph updating the activities of the committees reporting to Technology Council: Standards, Research Administration, Technical Activities, Environmental Health and Refrigeration.

The Members First! newsletter is published quarterly after each Technology Council meeting and is distributed to all chapter presidents and regional vice chairs (RVCs) for Chapter Technology Transfer. It is also available to any one who’s interested by signing up for the Members First! listserv at www.ashrae.org/publications/detail/16150.
