ASHRAE Insights

To broaden the knowledge of engineers and engineering organizations, ASHRAE and the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE) are making it easier for their members to join their respective groups.

Under a new agreement, ASHRAE members who hold professional engineering designations can join CIBSE without undergoing the normal qualifications review. Likewise, CIBSE members can join without undergoing ASHRAE’s admissions and advancement review.

“Making it easier for ASHRAE and CIBSE members to join our respective organizations furthers the exchange of ideas,” said Terry Townsend, Presidential Member ASHRAE. “When our members join other groups, particularly outside North America, they are exposed to new technologies since HVAC&R technology differs due to geographic, environmental, cultural and economic requirements. This exposure makes for more well-rounded engineers and more well-rounded engineering organizations.”

ASHRAE members who are interested in joining CIBSE can contact membership@ashrae.org. An online application form is available at  www.ashrae.org.
