Region I

Long Island Chapter held a program on the fundamentals, design and applications of geothermal systems presented by John Bender of MWSK Geothermal Inc. Bender’s presentation covered basic rules of geothermal design, piping design and installation application for traditional terminal heat pumps, geothermal chillers and boiler plants… Twin Tiers Chapter conducted a technical session on research and development in the hydronic boiler industry. John Ashby, director of technology at The Fulton Companies was the speaker.

Region III

Roanoke Chapter sponsored a tour of the newly constructed Patrick Henry High School. Robert Fanning of Lawrence Perry and Associates led the mechanical design effort of the project. During the tour Fanning offered insight into the design and answered questions. The chapter also hosted a program on steam system fundamentals and clean steam products. John Postiglione, Spirax Ultrapure and Alan Standerwick, Spriax Sarco Inc. were the speakers.

Region VI

Cedar Valley Chapter presented a program on refrigerant phase outs. The program included a discussion of retrofitting existing equipment and a general update on the industry. Allison Whittington Sr. a technical rep at Dupont Fluoroproducts, was the speaker… La Crosse Chapter kicked off the 2007–2008 year with a cruise on the Julia Bell Swain steamboat.

Region IX

Some 140 attendees were present for the Kansas City Chapter monthly meeting where Larry Spielvogel, Fellow/Life Member ASHRAE, spoke on responses to natural, accidental and intentional threats.

Region XI

Duncan Chalmers, University of NSW Australia, gave a presentation on mine ventilation systems in underground coal mines at the British Columbia Chapter meeting.
