Conference Programs Assistant

ASHRAE, a nonprofit engineering society, seeks a full-time Conference Programs Assistant with strong editorial skills to support the development of conference program materials.  Position requires a bachelor’s degree, preferably in English or Journalism, and editorial experience on a professional or college publication. Excellent Excel and Acrobat skills a must.  We are looking for a team player with strong grammatical, editing and proofreading skills who is accurate, deadline-driven and attentive to details. This is not a writing position. Requires organizational skills for conducting conference administrative responsibilities.

Technical Editor

ASHRAE seeks a technical editor to review and edit standards and guidelines developed by teams of engineers for clarity and formatting.  Responsibilities include facilitating the development process, maintaining relevant documents, processing meeting notes, and responding to issues. Two to 5 years’ experience in editing is preferred.  Ability to follow a work flow process, meet firm deadlines, and keep up with multiple projects is essential.   Ability to improve the sentence structure and wording of draft documents written by engineers is a plus.  Effective communication and writing skills, good judgment and tact are essential. Strong skills with Microsoft Office, especially Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook, required. Some travel may be required.  The official title for this position is “Standards Facilitator”.

Assistant Manager of Standards-Codes

Are you looking to get involved in the development of building codes and standards for HVAC&R?  Do you enjoy working with volunteers?  Are you outgoing and diplomatic? ASHRAE seeks an Assistant Manager of Standards-Codes with a Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or similar technical degree with at least 5 years experience.  Experience in the development or application of consensus standards or codes and editing technical documents is a plus.  Individuals with experience or knowledge in the development of consensus based standards and codes are desired.  Effective communication skills, good judgment and diplomacy are essential as this position interacts with outside committees and organizations.  This position requires domestic travel approximately three to four times per year.

Assistant Manager of Standards-International

Engineer
Are you interested in Building Energy Efficiency, Refrigerants, IAQ, Smart Grid and BIM paired with international travel?  Then consider joining our team.  ASHRAE, a 100 plus year non-profit organization, is seeking an engineer for a management position to oversee and manage its international standards development. This position is available immediately in our LEED Platinum certified headquarters building located inside the perimeter in Atlanta, Georgia.

This position administers and manages US and Technical Committees (TCS) within the International Standards Organization (ISO) for the development of standards and codes.  Applicants should enjoy editing technical documents, overseeing draft standards through the development process, coordinating activities internationally, and managing project committees. 

Successful applicants will have:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or similar technical degree.
  • Three to five years experience.
  • Experience or knowledge with international standards/codes development or application not required but a plus.
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects
  • Diplomacy especially in interacting with outside organizations and committees.
  • Enjoy travelling internationally three to four times per year.
