Donald L. Brandt, ASHRAE Member
Controls Project Manager, Trane Company

Donald L. Brandt has devoted his career to the HVAC industry. During his 39-year tenure with the Trane Company, he has held the positions of sales engineer, sales manager, trainer, facility manager and controls project manager. He worked in the sales offices at Wilkes-Barre-Allentown, Pennsylvania, and Phoenix, Arizona.

Don is very active in ASHRAE. He has served at the Chapter, Regional and Society Levels, including TEGA (now CTTC) from 1997- 2002, and chair in 2002; DRC for Region X from 2002-2005; Standards Committee from 2005-2009; and Conferences and Expositions Committee in 2010.
Currently, Don is the chair of the Professional Development Committee, and has been a committee member since 2011. He is also a member of the Standards Appeal committee and the Energy Targets MTG. Don received the ASHRAE Distinguished Service Award in 2005. He is also an IEEE Member and he teaches a CEM Prep Course.

Don has a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from Penn State University.

 

Julian de Bullet, ASHRAE Life Member, Vice President of Business Development, FAFCO Thermal Storage Systems LLC

Julian de Bullet has over 40 years of HVAC industry experience in a career that has concentrated on the applications of chilled water and all-air systems. 

Julian is an ASHRAE Life member and served on the Board of Directors, including a term as Vice President (2001/2003). An ASHRAE Distinguished Lecturer, Julian has delivered over 300 seminars around the world on a variety of topics including “Application of Sustainable Ice Storage Systems,” “Responsible Refrigerant Use,” “Sustainable Chilled Water HVAC Systems,” “Variable Primary Flow System Designs” and “Standard 90.1 and LEED.”  He has co-authored ASHRAE Position Documents on Energy Efficiency, Natural Refrigerants and Ozone Depletion. He is a member of several ASHRAE Technical Committees and currently chairs the Honors & Awards Committee.

A graduate of the London University, England, Julian obtained an electrical engineering degree and a diploma in marketing.  His early career with an electric utility pioneered electric thermal storage heating in England.

 

Julia Keen, Ph.D., P.E., ASHRAE Member, BEAP, HBDP
Associate Professor, Kansas State University, Owner of Keen Designs, PA

Julia Keen is an Associate Professor of Architectural Engineering and Construction Science at Kansas State University with a specialty in HVAC, energy codes and integrated building design. She has a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction from Kansas State University where she also received a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Architectural Engineering. She also owns her own consulting engineering firm. 

Julia’s experience includes working as an owner’s representative in facility planning and project implementation, acting as Mechanical/Electrical Project Engineer designing mechanical and electrical systems, and performing as a specialty consultant in building design as well as professional development. She has been involved in the design of both new and retrofit projects including hospitals, health clinics, assisted-living and nursing facilities, education facilities, office buildings, retail facilities, dormitories and churches.

Julia is a Licensed Professional Engineer and an ASHRAE Certified High-Performance Building Design Professional (HBDP).  She currently serves on the ASHRAE Board of Directors as a Director at Large.

 

Joel Primeau, P.Eng., ASHRAE Member, HBDP, LEED®AP

Joel Primeau leads teams of engineers and technicians in the design and construction of high-performance, sustainable facilities. He is currently working on an 18500-seat multifunctional amphitheatre (designed for NHL hockey events) and two large eco-friendly neighborhoods complete with multi-residential, office and commercial facilities.

Joel frequently trains engineers, architects and facilities managers on the design process, chiller plant optimization, high-performance HVAC systems, and heat recovery applications.

Joel’s experience spans a wide range of engineering design and construction projects. His expertise is in the design of high efficiency HVAC systems that also enhance indoor air quality and comfort.

Joel is a Licensed Professional Engineer, ASHRAE Certified High-Performance Building Design Professional (HBDP), and a LEED® Accredited Professional. He earned a BEng in Mechanical Engineering from the Royal Military College in Kingston, Canada. After a brief career as an army engineer, Joel has worked for over 20 years in the HVAC industry in consulting, facilities management and technical sales..
