Frank Mills, C.Eng.

Frank Mills, C.Eng., Technical Director – Sustainability, Energy, Sustainability Building Services Engineering and Fire Engineering, expertise is in design, management, supervision, construction and operation of building services engineering projects, including education, healthcare/hospitals, research, industrial, process, commercial, retail, computer/data suites, shopping centres including town centres and residential (housing, hotels and apartment buildings). These projects feature low energy features and include a number of exemplary zero carbon buildings. The schemes also include district energy/Tri Generation systems form energy centres which serve a number of buildings. Frank has worked closely with the BRE (Building Research Establishment) in the UK and also with ASHRAE TC 2.8 Sustainability (He is international representative on committee) to develop new environmental design and rating systems to aid developers and their designers toward low carbon and environmentally friendly developments. He has pioneered the new BREEAM Communities environmental rating system for whole scale phased developments by using Media City, Salford as a pilot study for the development work behind this new scheme. When chairman of ASHRAE Region at Large, subregion C he was actively involved in the planning of the forthcoming Chapter Region Council meeting and conference which is being held in Kuwait from 3rd to 5th October 2009 and has organised a session on low carbon and sustainable cities. He is presenting on the Media City UK case study project. He is the presenter for ASHRAE Learning Institute courses for Natural Ventilation and for Net Zero Energy Buildings.
