ASHRAE Recognizes the Exceptional Contributions of Members at the 2023 Annual Conference

ATLANTA (June 25, 2023) – ASHRAE recognized the contributions of members to the Society and the built environment industry during an Honors and Awards program at the 2023 Annual Conference in Tampa.

“We are thrilled to recognize and celebrate the exceptional achievements of this year’s ASHRAE Honors and Awards recipients,” said 2022-23 ASHRAE President Farooq Mehboob, Fellow ASHRAE. “Through their outstanding work, they have exemplified ASHRAE’s mission to create a more sustainable and comfortable built environment for all. We congratulate each recipient and express our gratitude for their invaluable contributions to the industry.”

A list of the awards and recipients are below:

Lincoln Bouillon Award
Dan Moresi, received the Lincoln Bouillon Award, which recognizes a member who performs the most outstanding work in increasing membership. The award commemorates Presidential Member Bouillon’s efforts in recruiting new members. Moresi is a Sales Engineer, Building Controls and Services, Inc., Lenexa, Kans.

Dan Mills Chapter Programs Award
Badri Patel, BEAP, received the Dan Mills Chapter Programs Award, which recognizes excellence in chapter program endeavors. Patel is an HVAC Equipment Account Executive, Johnson Controls, Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

William J. Collins, Jr. RP Award
David J. Anderson, P.E., received the William J. Collins Jr., RP Award. The award, named in honor of Presidential Member Collins, recognizes a chapter RP chair who excels in raising funds for ASHRAE’s RP campaign. Anderson is an MEP Project Engineer, Sheetz, Inc., Altoona, Pa.

Government Affairs Award

Eleazar Rivera-Mata, received the Government Affairs Award. The award recognizes individuals for outstanding effort and achievement in state, provincial and local government activities in connection with technical issues related to the Society. Rivera-Mata is CEO and Founder, ÉRGON Consulting Group, Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, México.

Donald Bahnfleth Environmental Health Award
Max H. Sherman, Ph.D., Fellow Life Member, received the Donald Bahnfleth Environmental Health Award, which recognizes excellence in volunteer service focused on environmental health issues. Sherman is a Principal, EPB Consulting Group, Moraga, Calif.

Homer Addams Award
Khaled Alghamdi, Ph.D. Candidate, received the Homer Addams Award, which recognizes a graduate student who has been engaged in an ASHRAE research project at a university that has graduate programs in the areas of heating, ventilation and air conditioning, and has achieved a high standard of performance in this work. Alghamdi is a Graduate Student, Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering School, Oklahoma State University, Stillwater, Okla.

Ralph G. Nevins Physiology & Human Environment Award
Li Lan, received the Ralph G. Nevins Physiology and Human Environment Award, which is given to a researcher under the age of 40 for significant accomplishments in the study of bioenvironmental engineering and its effect on human comfort and health. Lan is a Professor, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Shanghai, China.

ASHRAE Journal Paper Award
Jamie Kono, P.E., Jim Gieselman, P.E., BEAP, Meghan K. McNulty, P.E. and Barry Abramson, P.E., BEAP, Life Member received the Journal Paper Award for the article, “Increasing Ventilation In 1980s High-Rise Commercial Office Buildings,” judged to be the best article published in ASHRAE Journal.

Kono is a Building Research Engineer, Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, Richland, Wash. Gieselman is a Principal, Servidyne, Atlanta, Ga. McNulty is a Senior Project Engineer, Servidyne, Atlanta, Ga. Abramson is a Principal, Servidyne, Atlanta, Ga.

Science and Technology for the Built Environment Best Paper Award
Erfan Rasouli, Emily Fricke and Vinod Narayanan were recipients of the Science and Technology for the Built Environment Best Paper Award for “High Efficiency 3-D Printed Microchannel Polymer Heat Exchangers for Air Conditioning Applications.” The award is for the best paper published in the volume year of the Science and Technology for the Built Environment, the ASHRAE research journal.

Rasouli is an Associate Research and Development Engineer, UC Davis Western Cooling Efficiency Center, Davis, Calif. Fricke is a Graduate Student, University of California, Davis, Calif. Crosby Field Award
Liping Liu, Ph.D., Brent Bartone, Zahra Habib, Kinshuk Makhija and Kashif Nawaz, Ph.D., were the recipients of the Crosby Field Award for “Impact and Value of ASHRAE’s Standards and Technology (RP-1848)”, which was judged to be the best paper presented before the Society. The Crosby Field Award is named for a former Presidential Member.

Willis H. Carrier Award
Reece Kiriu, P.E., received the Willis H. Carrier Award given to a member 32 years of age or younger for presenting an outstanding paper at a Society conference. The award is presented for “Waterside Economizer Control in ASHRAE RP-1711.” Kiriu is an Associate, Taylor Engineers, Alameda, Calif.

Louise & Bill Holladay Distinguished Fellow Award
Kishor Khankari, Ph.D., Fellow Member, received the Louise and Bill Holladay Distinguished Fellow Award. This annual award is given to an ASHRAE Fellow for continuous preeminence in engineering or research work. The honor was initiated in 1979 by Presidential Member Bill Holladay.
