Manager of Building Decarbonization

ASHRAE has an immediate opening for a Manager of Building Decarbonization. This manager will support the activities of ASHRAE’s new Center of Excellence for Building Decarbonization. This is a new position at ASHRAE which will have the opportunity to help shape the society’s decarbonization strategies. The position reports to the Director of Technology and is ideally based at ASHRAE Global Headquarters in the metro Atlanta area. A remote position could be considered if the candidate is willing to travel as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. As Staff Liaison support the activities of the Center of Excellence for Building Decarbonization.
  2. Coordinate contract teams for cross departmental projects related to the activities of the Center of Excellence for Building Decarbonization.
  3. As Staff Liaison support the activities of the MEP2040.
  4. Negotiate contract, agreements, and MOUs for collaborative projects.
  5. Participate in stakeholder coalitions and meetings and building relationships at the staff level with other organizations, e.g., NYSERDA, EPA, WRI, and others.
  6. Coordinate with the Washington office on advocacy efforts.
  7. Some travel may be required.

Education and Job-Related Experience

A bachelor’s degree or similar technical degree is required. Successful applicants will have:

  • A minimum of 5 years of related NGO experience
  • Demonstrated leadership and ability to proactively collaborate with team members inside and outside ASHRAE.
  • Excellent oral and written communication, strong organizational skills, ability to work effectively with others, be self-motivated, manage long- and short-term deadlines, and strategically problem-solve.
  • Background and interest in environmental sustainability, climate change, and building decarbonization are highly desired.

Training Event Coordinator

ASHRAE, a global non-profit engineering society, seeks a full-time Training Event Coordinator with experience planning, scheduling, and supporting multi- and single-day live, in-person and virtual, instructor-led training. We are seeking a team player with strong organizational, analytical and time management skills who can simultaneously coordinate multiple training events.

 Preference given to friendly, outgoing candidates with non-profit experience and the motivation to succeed. 

 Key Responsibilities

This position contributes to providing practical training and education to a global workforce supporting improved building and system performance. Position responsibilities include:

  • Schedule and coordinate multi-day external training sessions of 25 or more attendees from planning phase to post-event analysis.
  • Consistently communicate with training event registrants, potential registrants, instructors, and vendors about training events.
  • Seek hotel and corporate training locations and negotiate contracts for onsite food and beverage and A/V expenses.
  • Coordinate with internal colleagues on training related communication and marketing material including online promotions.
  • Act as liaison to the hotel or corporate contact for logistics including shipping, onsite set-up, and cost invoices.
  • Prepare, monitor, and report training revenue and expense budgets.
  • Be present to follow training from start to finish including content development support, logistics, registration, recording, and reporting.
  • Analyze and prepare a summary report of attendee feedback from each course to share with instructors and team members along with viable suggestions for improvement.
  • Continually monitor the website for accuracy, clear training descriptions, value propositions and benefits, and purchasing opportunities, taking appropriate action as needed.
  • Stay current on best practices in the field of training for professional skills enhancement.
  • Perform onsite product promotions and registration assistance at assigned conferences and events.
  • Assist onsite with instructor-led, application-specific training at ASHRAE headquarters.

­ Education and Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience planning, scheduling, and coordinating the delivery of external continuing education. Preference for previous work in a non-profit membership association environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in communications or related field.
  • Quality project management and attention to detail skills and the ability to support multiple front-end educational and back-end administrative projects.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft desktop apps including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint and virtual meeting platforms such as Webex, GoToWebinar, and Zoom is required.
