Standards and Guidelines Under Continuous Maintenance

Access the online comment database to submit continuous maintenance proposals on standards and guidelines on continuous maintenance. A complete list of standards and guidelines under continuous maintenance can be found in the online database.

Under continuous maintenance procedures anyone may propose changes at any time. Each change will be considered by the appropriate Standing Standard Project Committee (SSPC) or Standing Guideline Project Committee (SGPC), according to a definite schedule, shown in Clause 2. The project committees may also propose changes.

How to Submit a Proposed Change to a Standard or Guideline

  1. INSTRUCTIONS FOR SUBMITTAL OF PROPOSED CHANGE TO ASHRAE STANDARD OR GUIDELINE UNDER CONTINUOUS MAINTENANCE

    Specific changes in text or values are required and must be substantiated. ASHRAE Staff will notify the submitter any change proposals that do not meet these requirements. Supplemental background documents to support changes submitted may be included, preferably in wordprocessed (MS Word preferred).

  2. If a provision is proposed to be added or deleted, the text of the provision must be submitted in writing at osr.ashrae.org. If modification of a provision is proposed, the proposed text must be submitted utilizing the strikeout/underline format. (Strikeout text to be deleted and underline text to be added.) Please do not submit marked-up or highlighted copies of the standard.

  3. INFORMATION ON REVIEW AND DISPOSITION OF PROPOSALS

    All submittals received by ASHRAE are acknowledged by the online system and forwarded to the Project Committee for consideration. The Project Committee will inform submitters of the disposition of their substantive proposals. SSPC or SGPC consideration will be given to proposed changes within thirteen (13) months of receipt.

    Note:  A login is required to submit a continuous maintenance change proposal and/or to access those proposals submitted previously. Please login with your existing ASHRAE Member or Non Member login or if you do not have an ASHRAE account you can create a new login.

    • Project Committee members must use their ASHRAE Member login in order to access the continuous maintenance proposals and to draft replies to those proposals for which their project committee is cognizant.
    • Proposers will need to use their login to view their proposals and view project committee responses to their proposals.
