Public Reviews, December 2019

The following addenda are under public review:

BSR/ASHRAE/ASHE Standard 170-2017, Ventilation of Health Care Facilities

The following is under a 30-day public review from November 22 to December 22:

1st Public Review of BSR/ASHRAE/ASHE Addendum

Proposed Addendum L continues the process of reorganizing the standard into three components—hospital, outpatient and residential health care and support—in alignment with the FGI Guidelines’ transition to three separate standards. There are five edits of definitions: one each edits in Chapters 7, 8 and 9 along with specific line (row) edits in Table 7.1. The addendum also revises the space name definitions and process definitions, table organization, and subheadings to better correlate with the 2018 FGI Guidelines for Design and Construction of Hospitals, including the addition of paragraph numbers after each space name.

ASHRAE Guideline 36-2018, High-Performance Sequences of Operation for HVAC Systems

The following is under a 45-day public review from November 29 to January 13:

  • 1st Public Review of Addendum f

This addendum is to revise Sections 3.2.1.5 and 5.16.11.

  • 1st Public Review of Addendum g

This addendum addresses the following issues: direction on how to determine the filter high limit differential pressure at design airflow, DP100; reduce the number of alarms that are classified as critical (Level 2); reduce the amount of required programming for each individual alarm to help ensure that the Guideline 36 sequences can be programmed into commodity control hardware; and reduce nuisance alarms.

  • 1st Public Review of Addendum

This addendum revises the way the variable speed series fan is controlled.

  • 1st Public Review of Addendum

This addendum revises the zone ventilation control logic in Sections 5.2.1.4 for projects that are to comply with the ventilation control requirements in the California Title 24 Building Energy Efficiency Standards, in order to make the logic consistent with changes to the 2019 version of Title 24.
