The Atlanta Chapter meets with Governor Nathan Deal for Day on the Hill

The Atlanta Chapter held its second annual Day on the Hill on Tuesday, February 20, 2018. Eleven Chapter members met with state legislators to share information about ASHRAE’s wealth of technical resources, from guidelines and standards to the expertise of our members. They also met with Governor Nathan Deal (R), who officially proclaimed February 18-24, 2018 as Engineer’s Week in Georgia, part of National Engineers Week.  The day began with a morning training session to review ASHRAE’s resources and learn about the Georgia legislature and energy code regulator process.

At the Capitol, each member met with the staff of his/her Representative and Senator to discuss ASHRAE and provide an information packet that included fact sheets on the Society, refrigerant safety, and Standards 62.1, 90.1, 188, and 189.1, as well as local chapter information. ASHRAE members also spoke with some of the legislators directly, by requesting a meeting through the Page system.
