Artificial intelligence (AI) policy: ASHRAE prohibits the entry of content from any ASHRAE publication or related ASHRAE intellectual property (IP) into any AI tool, including but not limited to ChatGPT. Additionally, creating derivative works of ASHRAE IP using AI is also prohibited without express written permission from ASHRAE.

Since 1995, countries from around the world belonging to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) have convened annually to discuss and measure progress on combatting climate change at The Conference of the Parties (COP).  ASHRAE has taken part in COP since 2021 sharing information on the solutions, standards, and opportunities ASHRAE provides to address decarbonization of the global built environment.

Planning, Design and Development in the Global South: The ‘How To’ for People + Planet

This side event, organized by Architecture 2030, ASHRAE, and the International Network of Women Engineers + Scientists (INWES), set out design and construction guidelines, with regional examples, for equitable and resilient development to meet GHG emissions reduction targets. 2022-23 ASHRAE President Farooq Mehboob and 2022-23 ASHRAE Treasurer were among the multidisciplinary group of leading industry practitioners who spoke at this event.

Building Industry Steps Up to Address Climate Change

Leading up to COP27, ASHRAE, along with 24 of the world’s leading building industry organizations issued a statement to government representatives pledging to assume a leadership role in decarbonization efforts in the built environment. 65% by 2030 / ZERO by 2040: Top 200 Global Firms and Organizations Lead With 1.5°C Climate Actions

This side event, organized by Architecture 2030 and ASHRAE , highlighted ways in which signatories of the 1.5°C COP26 Communiqué are responding to the urgency of the climate crisis and specific actions to decarbonize the built world and meet the Paris Agreement’s 1.5°C carbon budget. The importance of the building community’s participation in addressing the climate crisis was emphasized.
