This year’s ASHRAE Winter Conference and AHR Expo both boasted notable attendance and participation.
More than 3,200 people registered for the 2018 ASHRAE Winter Conference—making it one of the largest in ASHRAE’s history.
The 2018 AHR Expo was a record-breaker that snapped four records: attendance, exhibit space, number of exhibitors and number of international exhibitors. More than 70,000 people either exhibited at or attended the 2018 AHR Expo that boasted 2,155 exhibitors this year.
Both events were held in Chicago in late January.
“The Winter Conference and AHR Expo are prime opportunities for attendees to stay on top of the latest information and technology needed to work toward a more sustainable world,” said 2017-2018 ASHRAE President Bjarne W. Olesen, Ph.D. “Lessons learned at the conference have a direct impact on the success of our industries and afford us the opportunity to extend this knowledge around the world.”
Midway into his tenure as Society president, Olesen delivered his State of ASHRAE Address.
Olesen updated members on the Society’s progress since last June. Those accomplishments include ASHRAE’s partnership with UN Environment, speciality conferences throughout the world and the opening of the ASHRAE Global Training Center for Building Excellence in Dubai, UAE.
ASHRAE also recognized ASHRAE members’ achievements and contributions to the HVAC&R industry. From the 25 people who were elevated to ASHRAE Fellow to the recipients of the ASHRAE Technology Awards, students and members alike were honored.
Looking ahead, the 2018 ASHRAE Annual Conference will take place June 23–27 in Houston. Next year’s Winter Conference is scheduled for Jan. 12–16, and the AHR Expo is set for, Jan. 14–16, both in Atlanta.
