Course Description

Course Length: 6 hours

The 2019 update of ASHRAE/IES Standard 90.1, Energy Standard for Buildings Except Low-Rise Residential Buildings is a major revision, containing more than 100 changes from the 2016 version. Together, Standard 90.1-2010, 90.1-2013, 90.1-2016 and 90.1-2019 produce over 37% energy savings from the 2004 version. Buildings that substantially surpass the Standard 2019 requirements should achieve well over 37% energy savings from the 2004 version. The seminar has strong focus on 90.1-2019 requirements for key building technical systems including HVAC, building envelope, and lighting. The U.S. Department of Energy has issued a determination that establishes Standard 90.1-2019 as the commercial building reference standard in the United States. The GSA, NIH, and several other agencies and states have adopted 90.1 2019. All UFC compliant buildings must comply with 90.1 2019 beginning in April 2023. All states are encouraged to adopt the energy code a year after the determination. A thorough understanding of the code requirements is essential for designers, reviewers, and AHJs.
