NEW! Solar PV Systems: A Comprehensive Design and Application Blueprint
Course Length: 3 hours
Explore the fundamentals of solar energy with this comprehensive course designed to provide a thorough understanding of solar energy resources, system components, and practical applications to design and implement effective solar energy solutions.
This course examines global energy transitions, reducing energy demand, and the geographic and environmental factors influencing solar energy, including latitude and longitude, earth movement, and atmospheric effects. Participants will assess solar irradiance and insolation, as well as explore essential metrics like Global Horizontal Irradiance (GHI), Direct Normal Irradiance (DNI), and Diffuse Horizontal Irradiance (DHI) to evaluate solar energy potential worldwide.
The course also explains the technical components of solar PV and thermal systems and examines diverse solar applications, such as solar lighting systems and PV-based electric vehicle (EV) charging. The course provides guidance on designing solar energy systems, from residential setups to large-scale commercial projects, while exploring rate structures, incentives, and financing options for solar projects. Insights into battery energy storage systems, enabling energy independence and grid stability, and understanding essential commissioning tests to ensure solar system performance pre- and post-activation will be discussed.
