Course Length: 1.5 hour
This course is meant to discuss the process of evaluating your HVAC systems in the age of COVID-19 and the SARS-CoV-2 virus. Similar to a retro-commissioning process, the systems analysis for virus mitigation is determining how the systems are operating today and what can be done to save energy while increasing the ability of the HVAC systems’ ability to mitigate virus transmission. This presentation builds on the re-opening and systems evaluation detailed in the Building Readiness Guide.
The course will focus on the different engineering controls that can be applied to systems typically found in buildings. Each building and system are unique and need to be evaluated for how it can be improved. We will focus on the steps to analyze the systems and the mitigation strategies options while using actual building evaluations and improvements. The expansion of details discussed in the course will help reiterate the fact that mitigation strategies are available and help you understand what fits for your specific building, its systems specific arrangement and your needs.
The ASHRAE Learning Institute developed this course to discuss and apply practical guidance from the Building Readiness Guide and Commercial Guide. The intent is to evaluate your HVAC systems for its operation and what can be done to improve in the age of COVID.
