Harshal Surange is Director & CEO of ACR Project Consultants Pvt. Ltd., Pune which is into Cold Chain and HVAC&R Consulting since 1971 and the company has been promoting ‘Green’ Cold Chain at a Global level.
With a total experience of more than 21 years in the industry, Harshal has handled 300+ Cold Chain projects across the country.
Harshal has been appointed on the ASHRAE Committee for Refrigeration Technology for Comfort, Process and Cold Chain Committee (earlier known as ASHRAE Refrigeration Committee) for the term 2020- 2023. He is currently the Chair of the Refrigeration Committee at RAL for ASHRAE Sub Region 1&2. He was nominated as part of the ASHRAE team at ‘Kigali Cooling Efficiency Program’ (K-CEP) organized by United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) at Beijing, China and Gabarone, Botswana where he spoke about ‘Energy efficiency in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration’.
Harshal is empaneled with World Foods Logistics Organization (WFLO) and Asian Development Bank (ADB) as Cold Chain expert and works with them on cold chain and related projects globally.
Harshal has been awarded the prestigious ‘Bry Air Award’ in 2009 for Excellence in System Design and Emerson Cup for Refrigeration design at South East Asia Level in 2010. He was recipient of the Best Green Cold Chain Solution award in 2017. He was also awarded 'Certificate of Honour' by Global Cold Chain Alliance (GCCA) in 2017. He was the recipient of RefCold Emerson Award for ‘Most Innovative Refrigeration Design for Food Processing Sector’, given at an international event ‘RefCold India’.
He is the Founder President of IIAR Western India Chapter (International Institute of Ammonia Refrigeration) and is part of the International Committee of IIAR. He has given talks at various fora internationally including USA, Bangladesh, Nigeria and many locations across India.
He is a member of the Refrigeration and Energy Committee of the Global Cold Chain Alliance. He was the Chair of the ISHRAE Refrigeration Handbook Committee for the handbook released in 2013 and 2017 and is the past National Chair of the ISHRAE Refrigeration Committee.
He has been actively involved with NHB (National Horticulture Board, Govt of India) for various assignments including preparation of Standards, imparting Training to Engineers as well as Cold Storage owners and operators all over India. He has been recognized as a ‘Resource Person’ and ‘Trainer’ by the NHB.
