Energy Efficiency Guides for Existing Commercial Buildings.jpg

This two-book set includes both Energy Efficiency Guides for Existing Commercial Buildings. Although a part of the highly successful Advanced Energy Design Guide (AEDG) series, these publications concentrate solely on existing commercial buildings. The first in the series provided a business case for energy efficiency and was targeted to building owners and managers, and the second is aimed at providing technical guidance in undertaking existing building renovation programs.

PURCHASE

Technical Implementation

This publication provides specific and practical energy efficiency measures that will help achieve the goal of building sustainability while reducing energy costs.

Intended for building engineers and managers with a working knowledge of building systems, this guide demonstrates ways to measure a building's energy efficiency, track that efficiency, develop an energy efficiency plan, and provides guidance on implementing the developed plan. The goal is to provide clear and easily understood technical guidance for energy upgrades, retrofits, and renovations to achieve at least a 30% improvement in energy performance relative to a range of benchmark energy utilization indexes (EUIs).

The Business Case for Building Owners and Managers

This first installment is aimed at providing the business case for energy efficiency to building owners and managers; it provides the rationale for making economic decisions related to improving and sustaining energy efficiency in existing buildings. The goal of this publication is to enable building owners to evaluate current operations and conduct the economic analysis necessary to make wise decisions regarding improvements. In addition, the Guide identifies additional measures that can achieve even greater energy efficiency and cost savings in economical ways.

The ASHRAE Advanced Energy Design Guides are a series of publications designed to provide recommendations for achieving energy savings over the minimum code requirements of ANSI/ASHRAE/IESNA Standard 90.1.

The guides have been developed in collaboration with these partnering organizations: The American Institute of Architects (AIA), the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America (IES), the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), and the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE). The New Building Institute (NBI) participated in the development of the initial guide.
